The pilot that never leaves pilot

The moment

An AI pilot wowed everyone eight months ago. It is still a pilot.

It gets demoed to visitors. It appears on a slide with the word momentum near it. Nothing downstream of it has changed.

The turn

The obvious read is that it needs more accuracy, so you run another eval and tune another prompt.

But the pilot was never blocked on accuracy. It was blocked on ownership. No one has to change their Monday because of what it makes, so nothing it makes has consequences.

What moved it

We stopped asking whether it was good enough and named the decision it was built to change, and the one person who makes that decision today.

The pilot got a job, not just a score.

The shift

Same model. It left pilot in three weeks.

Not because it got more accurate. Because a decision finally depended on it.
